I’m Kurt Arbuckle, a Houston attorney, and this is the sixth in my series of videos on my six client representation principles. And in this video, I want to talk about counsel, that is giving you the instructions that you need in order to handle your end of whatever we’re representing you on, whether it’s an automobile collision, an injury from a dangerous product, a business dispute over a contract; whatever it is, we know that from time to time you need specific instructions from us on what needs to be done and what can best be done to present your side of the case.
We give you clear, specific instructions so that you can feel comfortable in knowing what you need to do. At the same time, we don’t tell you what you have to do. We leave the decisions about what you’re going to do up to you. It’s your life, not our life. And you can contemplate what we tell you, you can follow the instructions, but we’re not going to lecture you, we’re not going to blame you. We’re going to let you decide how you want to handle your life. But we do give you precise, specific instructions so that you’ll know what is expected.
